Meet the Band

With a voice that blends blues grit and power, Seth brings raw emotion to every lyric he writes. Growing up in Columbia, Mississippi — the “City of Charm on the Pearl” — he soaked up everything from Chuck Berry and Jerry Lee Lewis to the Allman Brothers and Lynyrd Skynyrd. He has been a big fan of music for as long as he can remember and participated in concert & marching band from 6th grade through community college. Though he always loved singing, it wasn’t until later in life that the stars aligned and he stepped into the spotlight as a vocalist and front man. He describes his signature vocal style as “soulful blues with a grunge rock edge.”
Seth’s career highlights include sharing a stage with well-known blues musicians at a venue in Natchez, MS. Known as a “people person,” fans know him best for his heartfelt presence and energy. When he’s not writing or singing, he’s probably hunting, fishing, or riding motorcycles. Fun fact: Seth loves aviation. A natural people person, Seth connects just as easily offstage as he does behind the mic.

Tyler Powell, guitarist and songwriter of GST, is the driving force behind the band’s hard rock edge, blending heavy riffs with a soulful touch. A self-taught guitarist who sharpened his ear in the school band, Tyler got an early taste of the stage when he traveled to Nashville at just 13 and jammed with Dino Bradley of Hank Williams Jr. That experience sparked his passion for expressive, soul-driven playing. Influenced by bands like 3 Doors Down, Creed, Saliva, Breaking Benjamin, and Seether, Tyler brings a powerful, alternative-meets-hard-rock sound to the group. His setup is straightforward yet effective—PRS custom shop guitar, Line 6 solid state amp, and tones ranging from high-gain crunch to shimmering cleans.
Born in Hattiesburg, Mississippi, and raised in Morgantown, Tyler grew up surrounded by music. His father introduced him to the rock classics, while his mother instilled an appreciation for the culture around it. Inspired by bands like Mötley Crüe and Guns N’ Roses, he saved up to buy his first guitar and taught himself to play the songs he loved. After time spent in the metal scene performing with bands such as Before There Was Rosalyn and For Those Who Fear, Tyler eventually met vocalist Seth through mutual friends. The two began writing original songs together, which led to forming the band as it stands today.
For Tyler, music is both personal and universal—a chance to channel his influences, history, and energy into something bigger than himself. Whether diving into a history audiobook, trading obscure facts, or ripping into a high-voltage riff, he’s never the quiet one. Onstage, his blend of grit and passion fuels the band’s sound and keeps the fire of rock and roll alive.

Drummer, songwriter, and booker for GST, Mason Bonner is the rhythmic backbone of the band, fusing technical mastery with raw energy behind the kit. A native of New Hebron, Mississippi, Mason first discovered his love for drumming after hearing Avenged Sevenfold’s Nightmare album, which sparked an obsession with powerhouse drummers like Jimmy “The Rev” Sullivan, Joey Jordison, and Ray Luzier. He joined beginner band in fifth grade, and while his early drum set playing was self-taught by ear, his formal training came through rudimental percussion under mentors Michael Watkins and Buddy Gibbons. Mason later honed his craft studying at Copiah-Lincoln Community College with Dr. Jason Mathena, and at the University of Southern Mississippi under the guidance of percussion legend Dr. John Wooton, along with lessons from world-class musicians including Jeff Mills and Tony Miceli.
Blending his jazz, funk, and Latin influences from college with his rudimental, rock, and metal roots, Mason has developed a versatile and dynamic style that drives the band’s sound. His setup features a seven-piece Gretsch Catalina Maple kit, DW Black Nickel over Brass snare, Paiste cymbals, DW hardware, Remo drumheads, and Vater sticks—gear that’s as reliable as his playing. Mason’s achievements include two international championships with the MS Lions All-State Band and performances alongside renowned artists such as Bill Summers of The Headhunters, mallet virtuosos Javier Nandayapa and Oscar Roca, and steel pan greats Andy Narell, Jeff Narell, and Victor Provost. Post-college, he toured regionally with a southern rock and blues band, whose singles received international airplay across four continents.
Beyond the stage, Mason has also dedicated time to teaching competitive high school drumlines and front ensembles, helping programs earn superior ratings and even multiple state championships. While he may be the “quiet one” of the group, Mason’s passion for music, love of cooking, and constant curiosity—often fueled by podcasts—make him an essential and multi-dimensional part of the band.

Colby Wilson grew up surrounded by music, as his uncle was a very respected Elvis impersonator. He himself has been playing music since his middle school marching band days, where he first picked up an instrument and never put it down. He describes his signature style as being inspired by Cliff Burton, Robert Trujilo, and Jason Newstead of Metallica, and Geddy Lee of Rush, as well as Duff McKagan, Mike Inez, and Jerry Only. Colby brings a gritty, driving groove that ties the band’s blues-grunge sound together. He first started jamming with Tyler at just 12 years old, and the music never stopped.
Known as the band’s jokester, Colby is rarely seen without a grin — or his trusty green pick that he refuses to play without. Offstage, you’ll probably catch him talking about football, motorsport racing, or showing off his Pokémon knowledge. Whether he’s rocking his Peavey Milestone or dreaming of a Rickenbacker 4003, Colby’s bass lines are the heartbeat of the band.
